Getting out to Vote!
Sometimes I can’t believe what’s going on around me. I showed up to work today (Nov 7 - Election day) to find out that only 3 of 20 people had bothered to go vote. That’s 15% of the workers in my company, all middle class Americans who didn’t even take the time to go out and exercise their civic duty.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but aren’t there millions of people the world over dying to get the chance to vote? The chance to make a difference. The chance to sway their government in some way.
I was one of the 3 who voted. I go the run around, was sent to 3 different places before I found the right one. Guess what, all of that took me about 1 hour. If I can’t make the time to put in ONE hour every 2 years to vote, then I don’t deserve the right to complain about what happens around me.
